A good place to start a sketching habit!
This workshop has been created to celebrate HRH the Queen's Platinum Jubilee but sketching bejewelled crowns is fun to do whatever the occasion!
During this workshop we will be virtually exploring the royal archives for some priceless treasures to sketch! Think copious numbers of crowns in every shape and size...throw in a bit of sparkle and you've got a sketchbook page that really pops!
Includes Step-By-Step Instructions and Tips & Tricks
Rather than worrying about creating the perfect sketch we will be working towards capturing the essence of the subject so there really is no going wrong...it's really fun, liberating and a great way to start if you are new to sketching.
If you have a bit more drawing experience, you might find yourself freeing up and making lots of interesting and experimental decisions when it comes to materials and techniques during this class!
Fun, Friendly and Welcoming!
The aim of 'drop in and draw' is to provide an opportunity to practice some techniques at home which you can then use whilst sketching in 'the wild'!
Come and draw with me as we visit museums, collections, go on virtual city breaks, and rummage through junk shops to find a host of interesting objects to explore...all from the comfort of our own sofa! Sketch quirky, beautiful and unique objects which all have their own tale to tell!
With regular drawing practice, you will grow in confidence and ability really quickly and your sketchbook will fill up in record quick time!
All experience levels are welcome xx

That was a brilliant class, Lucia, thank you! The drop in and draw thing really works! It's so relaxing and nice to feel I actually improve on my drawings too! Thanks again for leading such a fun workshop!

My very first blind contouring sketch was absolutely hilarious - it made me roar with laughter, which was great therapy! It’s the first time I’ve tried to draw for 35 or more years, when I desperately wanted to do an art course at college but my parents wanted me to do a two-year secretarial course...
I loved every second of this class... so interesting and absorbing! Thank you x
Lucia Leyfield
Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books. She has become known for a unique and creative approach to her work which has been described as 'quietly joyful...a nostalgic, moving and profound ...a treasure chest of creativity and inspiration'
Her journals and sketchbooks, which record life as it happens, conversations, inspirations and experiments, have become works of art in their own right. Many of Lucia's sketchbooks are handmade with a range of papers and combine traditional and experimental hand lettering with watercolour, collage and mixed media sketches.
She is inspired by a diverse range of things: the old, rusty and wonky, worn architectural patinas, ancient diagrams, aged buildings, old books and ephemera, explorers' sketchbooks and vintage field guides.
