A workshop which is great for all creatives but will especially appeal to those of you with an interest in fabric, printing, textile and the abstract arts. Collecting the patterns and details of a place helps you notice what you notice and recording this in sketchbooks can inspire future projects. Pattern and texture is such a rich and immersive theme for a full decorative page or as exquisite embellishments and details to existing journal pages.

As always, I will share with you my cheats, tricks and travel journal pages to help inspire your own creations.

I’m afraid I have a complaint… I am getting NOTHING done this weekend because your courses are too fab and so much fun and learning. Thank you so much - thankfully I had very little in the diary, for once, so signing up for Boozy Bottles yesterday was good timing!!  I also loved doing the Doors and Windows which is much more recent in your memory I’m sure.  Wishing you the happiest of summers and I will for sure be signing up for more sessions.

Thank you so much for the excellent travel workshop on Pattern and Texture. I have been taking “detail” photos for years when I travel, as I love the juxtaposition of landscapes and views with the up-close detail of buildings and decoration. Now I have the idea to include them in what will become my ongoing travel journals. This series has really been an inspiration to me. I also appreciated the focus on trying out different materials and thinking about what works best for different images. It was so much fun!

Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books. She has become known for a unique and creative approach to her work which has been described as 'quietly joyful...a nostalgic, moving and profound ...a treasure chest of creativity and inspiration'

Her journals and sketchbooks, which record life as it happens, conversations, inspirations and experiments, have become works of art in their own right. Many of Lucia's sketchbooks are handmade with a range of papers and combine traditional and experimental hand lettering with watercolour, collage and mixed media sketches.

She is inspired by a diverse range of things: the old, rusty and wonky, worn architectural patinas, ancient diagrams, aged buildings, old books and ephemera, explorers' sketchbooks and vintage field guides.
