Recording memories in a different way
Taking the pressure off the drawing element of journaling is liberating!
Abstract Journaling is like abstract art...you are recording not just what you see but what you experience with your other senses.
Includes Step-By-Step Instructions and Tips & Tricks
During this workshop, you will learn how to simplify complex elements and images which is REALLY liberating! The images become more illustrative and easier to draw and paint.
You will develop a range of exciting techniques you can add to your visual journal to give variety and depth of meaning. This is a great way to deepen your experience of a time or place and an amazing way to record something quickly and spontaneously.
Fun, Friendly and Welcoming!
You will learn LOADS of beautiful illustrative techniques during this tutorial and the great thing is that the same techniques can be applied in loads of different ways.
It can be hard to get going with a sketchbook so having some creative support, tuition, inspirational prompts and guidance to help start or develop your sketchbook practice is really helpful.
By using a sketchbook to record life's events, big and small or as a safe place to experiment and find your inner artist, you can learn a lot about yourself whilst developing your own creative skills. Maybe you want to loosen up, learn to draw, paint, write, collage, experiment...a sketchbook is the place for all that and more!
Fiona
I have added my pop-up garden to my sketch book along with my teeny tiny pop up house I created from another of your workshops.
Thank you for all these great workshops. Having them on Zoom and a recorded version makes your workshops accessible to me as in "normal" times they would be something I would be unable to access. So thank you!
Julie
I have just signed up for my third download and wanted to thank you! You popped up on my Instagram feed a few weeks ago and I am enjoying your tutorials SO much! I am halfway through an art course on Zoom, run by my local library. The teacher is lovely but it is not beginner level ( I only started using watercolours a few months ago and have had no tuition in an actual room) and the whole thing has totally sapped my confidence as everyone else is so much better than me. So it is such a joy to have found your lovely, fun, calming creativity, THANK you!
Thank you again, for restoring a bit of confidence!
Lucia Leyfield
Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books. She has become known for a unique and creative approach to her work which has been described as 'quietly joyful...a nostalgic, moving and profound ...a treasure chest of creativity and inspiration'
Her journals and sketchbooks, which record life as it happens, conversations, inspirations and experiments, have become works of art in their own right. Many of Lucia's sketchbooks are handmade with a range of papers and combine traditional and experimental hand lettering with watercolour, collage and mixed media sketches.
She is inspired by a diverse range of things: the old, rusty and wonky, worn architectural patinas, ancient diagrams, aged buildings, old books and ephemera, explorers' sketchbooks and vintage field guides.
