How To Draw Houses Easily And With Confidence!
Learn easy and effective techniques for sketching buildings and fill a sketchbook!
A house can tell a story of a region or country. Many houses carry their own special story which is why they are such good sketchbook fodder. If you're daunted by what to sketch when you are out and about or traveling then a little house can be a good place to start and works as a great theme for a travel journal or artist's book.
I will show you how to use pencil, pens, brushes and other mixed media to draw fun, informal houses in this step by step video lesson.
Embrace The Wonky and Whimsical
During this workshop you will learn how to sketch in an illustrative style which can be applied not just to houses but buildings in general.
Illustrative sketching allows lots of artistic license which, as you will see, is very helpful when drawing houses because it allows you to cheat...A LOT!
Have Fun And Relax
Use these techniques to fill a sketchbook just with houses or add to your current sketchbook or journaling practice.
I will take you on a special V.I.P tour of my 'housey' sketchbook which I hope will inspire and give you loads of ideas to explore yourself.
Everyone welcome! This workshop is suitable for all experience levels but especially beginners and improvers.
Many thanks for introducing me to a style of art and journalism that I find achievable. I only recently came across your website and have so far downloaded a few of your classes. I love the way you break down the drawing to make it understandable.
At 65 I had long since given up in creating art, believe me when I say I have tried many types. My cupboards are full of all types of paints and pens. Today I dug them out and PLAYED with them . It was fun . I don't care that others will not see my doodles as art. It is for me.
Chris
I would like to say how much I enjoy your workshops, your handouts are brilliant and I never feel like I'm in competition with anyone when I'm listening to your video, I just get lost in what I'm doing. I have tried art classes but have never felt that they where for me somehow!
Lucia Leyfield
Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books. She has become known for a unique and creative approach to her work which has been described as 'quietly joyful...a nostalgic, moving and profound ...a treasure chest of creativity and inspiration'
Her journals and sketchbooks, which record life as it happens, conversations, inspirations and experiments, have become works of art in their own right. Many of Lucia's sketchbooks are handmade with a range of papers and combine traditional and experimental hand lettering with watercolour, collage and mixed media sketches.
She is inspired by a diverse range of things: the old, rusty and wonky, worn architectural patinas, ancient diagrams, aged buildings, old books and ephemera, explorers' sketchbooks and vintage field guides.
