We are celebrating indie bookshops in this 2 hour sketch-a-long class!
Where I live in the UK, there are loads of beautifully wonky bookshops all of which have creatively curated windows. Their frontages and signs are so full of colour and creativity! Maybe you've spotted a beautiful bookshop on your travels or you're lucky enough to have one in your local town?
During this class you will learn two illustrative approaches to drawing a bookshop frontage: one where the emphasis is on the line and another which focuses on shape. Both methods offer up a more illustrative style of sketch which is a fun and friendly approach art whatever your experience level.
There will be a range of images available from bookshops throughout the Cotswolds to sketch from but please do feel free to sketch from your own references...maybe your local bookshop would appreciate a portrait?
You could sketch single shops or join your drawings up to create a homemade high street full of bookshops...maybe a bakery would be a nice addition too!?
What do I get when I buy?
What do I need to take part?
This isn’t a prescriptive list, please do use the materials you enjoy, feel free to experiment and go your own way!
Here's what people are saying...
Lucia! I cannot thank you enough for re-lighting my creative mojo and letting me be wonky...It has been a complete revelation. You have the most amazing ability to draw (literally) the madness out of people and allow them to embrace it! I feel like I have found my people! ~ SAM
I still can't believe I made this! You make everything so simple and achievable. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and passion with us. I couldn't sleep without finishing it! ~ ALMA
Your classes, newsletters and ideas have helped me a lot. I’m more of a painter than an illustrator, but I have fun following and adapting your ideas. I find little nuggets that I can take into painting or large drawings that I hope will lead into paintings. I’ve experimented more with materials and sketchbook formats recently, and it’s so good to have a shake-up! ~ VICTORIA
