Through the Winter Woods: A Tunnel Book Workshop

Create your own midwinter forest, layer by layer, and quietly wander Through the Winter Woods with me...

Step into a world of winter magic and create your very own layered paper woodland, all from the comfort of your home. This pre-recorded workshop is designed so you can follow along at your own pace, with a collection of bite-sized videos that guide you through each stage of the class.

As with all the Wild Ink Workshops, there are LOTS of curious and inspiring options allowing your fingers and mind to follow your own creative path with some gentle guidance!

(If you are a more experienced artist you can swap out motifs and experiment with materials, however, if you looking for a more simple and easy version, there are lots of lovely tips, cheats and tracing sheets!)

What’s included:

  •  Step-by-step video tutorials breaking down the process into manageable, easy-to-follow stages.
  •  Techniques for layering, composing, and bringing your winter woodland to life.
  • Simple materials: card, watercolour, pencils, and a touch of sparkle if you wish! (There's a full materials list in the course, plus a video chatting through my preferred materials)
  •  Lots of variations on the theme, with options to add different elements to your scene.
  • Tracing and reference sheets to make your project easier and more enjoyable.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a unique, enchanting piece of paper art — a tunnel book that captures the stillness and beauty of a winter woodland, perfect for your home, as a gift, or just for the joy of making.

Who It’s For:

  • Adults who love sketchbooks, journaling, drawing, and making things.

  • People who want a relaxed, creative escape, no prior art experience needed!

  • Anyone who enjoys tiny, playful projects and wants to make something by hand.

What People Are Saying:

Great job with another workshop! As always, your Tunnel Book workshop was lots of fun. A paper craft at Christmas is just the ticket. I learn new things everytime I engage with your workshops even though I have been drawing and painting for many years and have an art degree. This time around, I particularly appreciated your information on acrylic vs regular gouache paint. The separate videos were a great way to choose those parts I really wanted to visit or revisit. I also wanted to mention that I find it very encouraging and helpful when you work through a process at the same time you are teaching/explaining. It is good to hear you thinking aloud when making decisions ... when does one really know when to stop with the gold glitter paint ?!

I love your workshops. Your mixed-media style really appeals to me. Your instructions and handouts are always so clear and helpful, and I enjoy the chatter. I still have one (the mini map one) to enjoy. I frequently use the pop-up cottage one and the teeny typewriters, which both make for amazing greeting cards.
