A joyful addition to your sketchbook!
In this workshop, we will explore techniques for sketching and illustrating the flowers you encounter in your garden or local park. Whether you're looking to add vibrant floral elements to your sketchbook as part of a garden or nature journal, or you want to experiment with simplifying forms into a more illustrative style, this session is for you, my friend!
Fun and expressive drawing whatever your level of experience
We’ll begin with some fun drawing exercises which will help loosen up and find interesting lines and shapes. This will give you a simple template that you can easily personalise and add colour to in your own favourite way.
Keep it simple, or add colour...
Towards the end of the class, I'll be demonstrating quick and simple techniques to add colour pops to your drawing, splashing around a bit of watercolour and a few other other materials...but not being too precious about it, just having fun, which is great way to learn about how you like to work!
...and a bit of ink!
I'll be demonstrating how I use a dip nib and ink to draw directly on the page so do feel free to join me or stick with your preferred media, It's totally up to you.
The best part? It’s not about getting everything perfect—it’s about having fun and capturing the flowers in your own way. The ink flows easily, letting you experiment with shapes and lines, inspired by vintage botanical illustrations but with your own personal touch.
Whether you're new to drawing or have some experience, it’s all about enjoying the process and letting your creativity shine. You’ll end up with beautiful, unique drawings that truly reflect your style!
Designed to complement several other Wild Ink workshops, this class also works perfectly as a standalone experience.

What people are saying:
THANK YOU for inviting me to your "Free Work-a-long" yesterday! For me - it was so enjoyable listening to you talk about your creative life and art. In addition, I absolutely loved seeing the artwork created by the other ladies and listening to them discuss projects, books, meeting people, etc. This was like a 'VISUAL PODCAST" where we worked along with you.~Karla
Thank you! I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful I think this workshop is! Every time I think your classes can’t get any better …..Like many of your followers I feel this is the class I’ve been looking for but didn’t realise it! Brilliant! ~Jane
I just wanted to thank you for how you make your classes accessible for me. I’m disabled and on a low income so many course offerings are beyond my affordability. Thank you for your generosity I very much appreciate it. I just did the mini map making course. What fun! I have a brain injury so video is the only way I can learn and I find your teaching style clear and simple to follow. ~Penny
