Experiment with Materials!

During this workshop we will look at how artists have abstracted the landscape for illustrative purposes, manipulating a view to tell a story.

Lots of magic illustrative techniques are used all of which are fun and easy! This session works well with each of the workshops this term but also stands alone as a great one off and useful for journals and cards.

Includes Step-By-Step Instructions and Tips & Tricks

You will have the option to either draw your own very simple landscape layout or you can use the tracing sheet attached.

It's completely up to you but if you're new to drawing or feel a bit worried then definitely opt for the tracing option!

I'll show you how to create the layered elements and how adding decorative designs can really make your artwork pop!

As with all my classes, there's loads of little useful tips, cheats and hacks!

Fun, Friendly and Welcoming!

If you want explore the course of landscape workshops on offer, this is the second of five classes.

This workshop also works as an individual session in its own right.

This is a relaxing a fun workshop suitable for all experience levels. You don't need to have any prior drawing experience to enjoy the class.

Sarah

I love your classes! I watch them live as my lunch break (in the US), and then replay later. I have enjoyed art journaling for some time, but it’s so fun to learn from someone else and hear a different perspective. I’m so glad I found you!

Nancy

So thank you as you have rekindled a spark that was there, but needed a little push. I'm excited, thrilled, and thoroughly enjoying myself !

Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books. She has become known for a unique and creative approach to her work which has been described as 'quietly joyful...a nostalgic, moving and profound ...a treasure chest of creativity and inspiration'

Her journals and sketchbooks, which record life as it happens, conversations, inspirations and experiments, have become works of art in their own right. Many of Lucia's sketchbooks are handmade with a range of papers and combine traditional and experimental hand lettering with watercolour, collage and mixed media sketches.

She is inspired by a diverse range of things: the old, rusty and wonky, worn architectural patinas, ancient diagrams, aged buildings, old books and ephemera, explorers' sketchbooks and vintage field guides.
