Illustrate your Garden!

In this 'Drop in and Draw' workshop we will be using a collection of easy and experimental printing techniques ...to draw with!

No specialist printing equipment is needed for this fun and expressive workshop where we will be exploring some of the wonkiest allotments in the Cotswolds.

Unpredictable and creative results are guaranteed (even if you very neat and tidy with your sketching!) as we delve into handbuilt sheds and explore compost heaps, raised beds, tangled networks of runner beans, earthed up spuds and much loved tools.

Includes Step-By-Step Instructions and Tips & Tricks

Banish the curse of perfectionism!

Maybe you want to loosen up, learn to draw, paint, write, collage, experiment... this project is a great place to get started!

During this workshop, we will explore the idea of drawing using transfer methods. The resulting sketch looks a little like a cross between an etching and a lithograph. Carbon paper is good for this and gives a nice result but I will also show you how to create your own transfer papers too.

This drawing workshop is brilliant if you have never drawn before, maybe a bit scared, don't know where to start or an experienced artist looking for new ground. You could add your sketches to a sketchbook or build an artist's mini book to work in which is really fun!

Fun, Friendly and Welcoming!

All of the drop in and draw sessions will begin with a demo of some techniques that you will find fun and useful to try out during the session. This really helps with 'getting going' (something that we all of find difficult at times!).

We will then have a go at drawing some objects, starting with quick warm up exercises, moving onto longer sketches.  The aim of these classes is to sketch quietly and peacefully with opportunities to chat and ask questions inbetween each of the sketches.

With regular drawing practice, you will grow in confidence and ability really quickly and your sketchbook will fill up in record quick time! By using a sketchbook to record life's events, big and small or as a safe place to experiment and find your inner artist, you can learn a lot about yourself whilst developing your own creative skills.

Maybe you want to loosen up, learn to draw, paint, write, collage, experiment...a sketchbook is the place for all that and more!

Pam

I just want to thank you for the seed packet class ... I've dabbled in watercolours for decades but your instruction gave me my "aha" moment!  You made the process so less intimidating and overwhelming by breaking it down into smaller, doable pieces.  In doing the sketching and painting along with you, it freed my creativity and desire to make art.  It really was a meditative two hours for me.

You don't know how thrilled I am that you helped unlock my inner artist!

Just a note to say thank you for the for the class last night. You gave us some really useful starters and I like the 'you cannot go wrong and if you do just paint/paper over it' approach. The classes are helping me to feel interested again in what I am doing and spurring me on to do more, so, a big 'thank you' for that too.

Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books. She has become known for a unique and creative approach to her work which has been described as 'quietly joyful...a nostalgic, moving and profound ...a treasure chest of creativity and inspiration'

Her journals and sketchbooks, which record life as it happens, conversations, inspirations and experiments, have become works of art in their own right. Many of Lucia's sketchbooks are handmade with a range of papers and combine traditional and experimental hand lettering with watercolour, collage and mixed media sketches.

She is inspired by a diverse range of things: the old, rusty and wonky, worn architectural patinas, ancient diagrams, aged buildings, old books and ephemera, explorers' sketchbooks and vintage field guides.
